The following is my altered version to make these into a breakfast cookie, if you prefer them sweeter, the original recipe was 3/4c sugar. Without further ado, the ultimate in Chocolate chip cookies! The perfect fall treat!
Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies
1 c pumpkin
1/2 c butter melted
1/2 c sugar
1 tsp milk
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
2 c flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla
1 c Chocolate chips
Variation: 1/2 c choc chips, 1/2 c raisins
Note: if using unsalted butter, 1/2 tsp salt is what the original recipe called for.
Dissolve baking soda in milk, set aside Mix pumpkin, sugar, egg, and butter. Mix remaining dry ingredients and add to pumpkin mixture, stir in milk mixture and vanilla. Stir in chocolate chips. Scoop with cookie or ice cream scoop in rounded mounds. Bake 10-14 min at 375.

For those who do not know, Grace is a screamer...we are working on it, but for now there is much frustration over her obnoxious, very loud yelling in the van especially...even Benjamin who is often decibels above the rest of his world, is annoyed by Gracie's seemingly constant outbreaks of yelling, mostly because they are at the very moment he had something to say! On to the point of the post since I am certain nobody actually wants to read an entire article about a 2 year old screamer! The boys and I were out and about the other day without Grace, so we were actually able to have a conversation. It went something like this...
After conversation with Benjamin about his recent dreams, we talked about fun things that we have done recently. Benjamin has really enjoyed telling us about his dreams lately, everything from spiders to chopping wood with Daddy to fishing and on and on! Eventually, I asked Noah about favorite memories. I want to write down these favorite memories of his because they were so precious to me, I never want to forget what is important to my 7 year old boy!
Favorite memory of:
Daddy: Being thrown in the air in the pool & back and forth between Daddy and Uncle Justin
Grandma: "that one time that I got to go with Grandma and spend the night...just me and Benjamin and Grace stayed home and Benjamin was more worried about Grandma taking his fish tank than not getting to go with Grandma!" That boy has a vivid memory!
Benjamin: Talking before bed. And completely unprompted, yet something I have always hoped for him to remember, he said, "and the first time I saw Benjamin in the hospital" I think my heart is in a puddle on the floor! Him remembering meeting his brother for the first time makes all the ridicule of waiting 3 1/2 years worth it!
Grace: When she was about to turn one. He said she was so cute and fun then! :)
Grandpa: When they were playing something with some magnets and were giving him rock "ice cream" and he would be very silly and say "that's not what I ordered!" :D
Uncle Justin: Whale ride in the pool! ;)
Mommy: "A long time ago when we used to sing silly songs at bedtime and tell silly stories and have giggle time instead of reading books"
I have to be honest, I had a whole slew of emotions over his response to his favorite memory of me. I was happy that it wasn't something superficial like "that time you took me to buy a toy". I was sad that it was something that meant so much to him and we don't really do it anymore(it was before Benjamin and Grace.) Most of all, I realized that all the big trips and all the things that we try to give them as memories aren't nearly as important as the "little things". It's the time spent, not the money spent. It is the gift of your presence that in the end will mean the most!

I am so behind on blogging, I don't even know where to start, so I'm jumping in with both feet and just starting current events and catching up on the old as I have time! :) So after the triathlon, we went to Young's Dairy with the Baumgardners...it's like becoming a tradition or something! Other than the torrential downpour just as we got our ice cream and it scared the kids so bad we had to go back inside, we had a great time. Great lunch at the restaurant...you never feel more worthy of food as you do after canoeing 4 miles, running 5 miles, and biking 17 miles! :)
Gracie with her ice cream face! Love this picture of her! BIG brown eyes, wispy blond curls...
I always love the goats...they are so cute and even friendlier than they are cute!
They love each other! ♥
Babies are always cute!
This is one of those pictures that will be fun to repeat year after year!

Our little Princess turned 2 on June 3rd! We can't believe how fast that two years went by and even more we couldn't have begun to imagine what a true gem this little girl is! She is a joy to all. She is a charming, squishable, energetic ball of fun! She may not say many words, but she understands everyone of them and communicates far beyond her vocabulary! Nicknames include of course "Princess" "Grace-Grace" "Stinkerbell" "Destructo-raptor" "Tornado(& her path of destruction)". As you can tell from her nicknames, she has some swift moving feet as well as some quick little hands(and some sticky fingers). This girl will rearrange your house top to bottom in a matter of minutes! Don't let the sweet innocent face fool you...she is on a mission to divide and conquer all things in her path. She has a different idea of "organized" and will relocate anything she can get her grubby paws on! Despite that she is charming and sweet all the while and you would never suspect a thing until you can't find ANYTHING! She is growing well and remains about the same on the curve as she always has been 55% height, 50% weight. As I mentioned before, her vocabulary is small, so we are pursuing further testing for that. She will soon have a hearing test and speech evaluation to determine if she needs further help in that area. We are praying for clear answers of course, that she would either just start talking(as many have said that children with siblings don't need to talk) or that perhaps something as simple as having tubes put in would remedy the problem(doc says even minor hearing deficit could be the cause of all this). Whatever it is, we know God knew about it when she was but a speck and we know that He ultimately loves her more than we even do!

The first words out of Benjamin's mouth one morning were, "I need a haircut". I said ok, but figured he would forget pretty quick. Well, I was wrong! He did not forget, so I took the clippers to his head!
Such nice long shaggy hair...I wish my hair were that color!!
Look at that long piece of hair! I was pretty happy with the outcome!

You can read all over the web about sensory play and how wonderful it is for little ones, but you cannot truly understand it until you see them doing it. Rice play is one of the easiest sensory play bins to create. Just rice and measuring spoons and cups. Grace was no exception, she loved it!
Sensory play can be messy, but the rice cleans up super easy!!

BLOG! I finally found a blog template, accepted that while the taking and editing of pictures is apparently a God given talent, computer graphics is NOT, so I handed over the 20 bucks and bought a watermark!! What do you think?
