Grace and Megan were due 5 weeks and 2 days apart and were born exactly 5 weeks and 2 days apart(not on their due dates!) Grace is older, but I believe Megan has caught up with her in size(aside from noggins, Grace definitely has a mighty melon!)

Not looking particularly cooperative here!
Sometimes Grace loves on her friends too much!
Apparently, Grace is quite the storyteller!!
Silly girlies!!
At least one of them was cooperative! Love her little foot in this one!
At least Megan was cooperative...
My mother in law always says Megan looks like a little sprite...I'm not sure what a sprite is, but must be cute! Oh, and check out all those teeth!!
Benjamin, always the life of the party...willing to do whatever it takes to get a laugh!

I hope Grace is always this loving and never loses the ability to give the BEST hugs ever!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Through blood, sweat, and tears...we finally got a decent pic of all three of my sweeties! Ok, no blood, but bribes, threats, tears, and treats were involved! Happy Mother's Day to me!

Pretty Eggs

Every year we go to Grandma's house and dye eggs. It's a fun tradition in which the boys(the big ones) show off their artistic/crafty side! :)

Grandma and Gracie

Noah is as serious as his Daddy about getting the right color and pattern.
Benjamin might have enjoyed eating the eggs more than coloring them!

Justin uses his leatherman...hmm...

Family Pic!

We got one pic of the whole family on Easter! As Joel only need one good one! :P

Easter! Resurrection!

I thought since Easter was at the end of April that I would not be taken off guard, but somehow with all the rain and cold weather that was April it still snuck up on me! So our big project still awaits us(it's more of a spring craft anyway!) This year between all the rain and cold and the fact that Noah was having a hard time remembering what Easter is really about, I decided to keep the candy, eggs, bunnies and other fun stuff not at the center. This resulted in getting no pictures of the kids in their adorable Easter outfits with their cute baskets I made up for them, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make to be sure that my kids know that Jesus is the reason for celebration. I want them to know the sacrifice that Jesus made for us...for THEM, that He made that sacrifice for them on a personal level. I think this song is one of the best representations of what it is that He did for us!

The art of sibling pics!

You know for 3 1/2 years I had it easy...almost every Sunday I took a picture of Noah all dressed up. And not just one, lots of them...hands in pocket, by the stairs, on the porch, leaning, sitting, was E.A.S.Y! Now when I try to get pictures, it is DEF not easy! Someone is always looking away, covering their face, making a face, picking their nose, sticking their tongue out...creating memories! So I take the good with the bad and chalk it up to some great blackmail later when they are older! ;)

Benjamin loves his animal book!! Here he is telling us what a pig says!
Benjamin is mostly not so great with sharing the things most dear to him(bike, airplane guy, bottle bear, etc). I was very proud of him for how well he shared his animal book with his sister!

I love how he is showing her things and was telling her what stuff was and the sound it made. Soooo Sweet!

Helping Daddy

Joel built in a really nice bookcase when we renovated the upstairs. I need to get a picture of the finished product, but here are some pics of the boys "helping" Daddy.

Noah likes the prep work or well, anything he can do by himself, his own way! {oldest.child.syndrome}

Benjamin, as we have been told, is a man's man! He likes power tools, destruction, all things manly!
Benjamin also likes to be right under Daddy's thumb when he is working on anything!

"That good, Sister?"

This was a while ago...but was too cute not to put on here. I was cooking dinner one night and turned around to see Benjamin gently feeding Grace her Cheerios. It was soooo cute...they were both loving it, so I got her applesauce ready and let Benjamin feed her! Priceless!

Cocking his head to the side, he would croon, "That good, Sister?" Cutest.Thing.Ever!

Funny Stuff!

Some pictures don't need stories...and some stories don't need pictures...these are the stories with no pictures! One night during bath time I was sitting in the loft, Benjamin was in the tub and Noah was going to the bathroom. Benjamin makes "bubbles" in the tub (if you know what I mean). Noah laughed, "Do it again, Benjamin!" Of course, being that he is a male child, he did! Same thing...Noah laughing, "Do it again!!" This went on a few times until suddenly Benjamin wasn't laughing anymore, but was crying, hysterically! I jumped up and ran to the bathroom to assess the situation. Benjamin was standing in the tub, hysterically crying and screaming, making every effort to stay away from the floaties...then the infamous words, "I pooped!!"

I actually wish I had a picture of this one...I walked into Grace's room where she was playing the other day and she was pulling wipes out of the container. I said, "What are you doing?" and she looked up at me and started pushing them back in the box!! I couldn't believe it!

Memory Lane

I can promise two things...this post will be long and it will be hodge podge. I have tried to gather my thoughts and wrap my mind around the fact that Ashley has been gone for 2 whole years, but it's just not happening. On the one hand, I feel like it's been forever since I've heard her voice and talked to her and ran errands together and just truly enjoyed friendship for the wonderfulness of it! At the same time, while I no longer check caller ID when I get home or even really try to get to the phone when it rings, I can still hear her voice and I still feel like I'm going to talk to her soon. I visited her grave recently & took a lily, cause that was her favorite. I don't go often because she isn't there, not even a little bit. But I did smile as I drove away and looked back at the cheery lily sitting would have made her always did.

I was reminded by a friend that it's the awesome memories she left us with that help us feel close to her again. So I want to take a walk down memory lane of all the awesomeness Ashley and I shared over the years. I don't know that I remember actually ever having that initial awkward time that you have when you first meet someone. Ashley and I were probably about as different as night and day in a lot of ways, but somehow we hit it off so easily and quickly. We ran errands together, went to the park together, went shopping together, hung out so the kids could play. No less than once a week we did something together and no less than once a day we talked to each other! I really miss having that...I really miss!

These are in no particular order...I just went back through our blogs and pulled some of my favorite memories with Ashley. During VBS one year, Ashley kept nursery, however, during that time Noah did NOT like for you to mention nursery, so Ashley adapted and called it "class" and Noah went willingly then! Just the fact that she cared enough to make that little adaptation for Noah tells you the kind of person she was!

Our little guys have always been great the zoo, when I watched Joshua(I even dressed them alike), when Ashley watched Noah, when we got them together for fun crafts(favorite!) We even had their pics taken together one time!

I now know the meaning of "it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all". I am better for having known Ashley and so thankful for the time that I had her in my life. As much as it hurts not to still have her here, to think that she never got to meet my sweet Grace and that she never got to see Benjamin beyond infant stage, I will never forget all the fun times we had together with our two boys! Thank you, Ashley, for the friendship and memories you left me with!
