Ok, I just have to put in a plug for this website that I have been frequenting, I have not ventured out and bought anything or even signed up for an account, but if you like Ebay you will love Etsy. My friend, Michelle, got me started there and I have every intention of buying something that I have been watching for a while...just waiting on the courage! Also, check out Michelle's stuff on there, her little wooden toys are adorable!

Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible if you become terribly addicted to this site!

Ancient Words

We sang this song at church on Sunday and I just love the words as well as the beautiful music, but just a quick note about the words that strike me the most. On the second verse, the words say "came to us through sacrifice". My mind of course instantly went to what Jesus suffered in His life and on the cross--the Ultimate Sacrifice! Then, as I thought again, my mind thought of Paul and other writers who suffered for the name of Christ, then on through the generations of translators. I was truly humbled to think of all the men and women who truly suffered(even to the point of death) for a Book that we so often take for granted. I couldn't tell you how many Bibles we own and then I think of the people in this world who would suffer just to own a page of a Bible. It is humbling and a rebuke as well. Listen to the words as they are so powerful!

Song lyrics | Ancient Words lyrics

Ancient Words
Holy words long preserved

for our walk in this world,
They resound with God's own heart.
Oh let the ancient words impart

Words of Life, words of Hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where e'er we roam
Ancient words will guide us Home.

Ancient words ever true
Changing me and changing you,
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart

Holy words of our Faith
Handed down to this age
Came to us through sacrifice
Oh heed the faithful words of Christ.

Holy words long preserved
For our walk in this world.
They resound with God's own heart
Oh let the ancient words impart.

We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart

Happy Father's Day!

This post is a little late, but this is definitely one that is better late than never! Noah really enjoyed and is understanding holidays now. He just kept saying Happy Father's Day to his Daddy and of course why not, he couldn't ask for a better Daddy! He looks up to his Daddy in every way! He constantly talks about being like Daddy. Just a couple of my favorites are when he says that when he is big like Daddy he will have scratchy cheeks(and will get to shave) like Daddy! And of course all he really wants to be when he gets big is a Daddy! And when he is big like Daddy, he will go to work and use Daddy's "fwashwight"! He definitely wants to be like Daddy!

I couldn't be happier with how this picture turned out! Noah is telling Joel "Happy Father's Day!" and the adoration is written all over his face! Joel's shirt was part of his father's day is a t shirt with a tie printed on it that says Happy Father's Day. It is perfect because Joel hates ties!

More Sunday Pictures

This picture is for proof of our shopping day even though I forgot to take any pictures. Jessica and I went shopping(just the girls!) one of the days she was here. Her birthday is in July, but I usually try to have a special day to celebrate it while she is here. We went out to eat, we bought that dress, a pair of capris, and we picked up those shoes another day we were out. It was a fun day! This is one of many attempts to get a picture of the two of them on Sunday. I wouldn't have thought a 13 year old and 3 year old would be that hard, but someone kept blinking and someone kept squirming!

Noah and Grampa sitting on the steps(Noah's safe place!)

Noah swimming with Gramma!

This is the 4th summer that Jessica has been here and while Justin has always been taller, but this year he seemed to really have surpassed her! She is almost 14 and he is 16. She is not even 5 feet and he is almost 6!

All American Boy!

Daddy and Noah have been having a good time going fishing recently. I just had to get this picture of him all ready for fishing!

Noah loves corn on the cob as much as his mommy and this was no exception! It was great even for early corn!

Young's Dairy

While Jessica was here we took one of Joel's days off and went to Young's Dairy Farm in Yellow Springs. We took Uncle Justin with us too. After eating lunch, we headed over and played some miniature golf, then we had ice cream and before it rained we managed to feed the goats and see the calves. It was a very fun day!

Noah's favorite part of Young's Dairy is the goats. They are so friendly and just love to be fed!
There were some adorable little babies! I love how this baby is taking advantage of the other two goats for some snuggling.

One of the smallest ones and Noah feeding it. Isn't it precious!

This calf was beautiful! Just the right age...not too scrawny, a nice golden color and just the cutest cow face!

This one, however, was very sad. I think he was a little young to be away from his mommy.
He sucked on my finger for the longest time...I think we should get him a pacifier! Poor little fellow is just so skinny(I'm pretty sure he was fairly new)!

Taking a swing! Mostly we gave him 5's, but once he got it in 2, on his own! Joel and I were both so shocked we took 5's on that one!!

Watching Mommy try not to hit it out of the park!

Taking a break to look at an airplane!

Jessica taking that last little swing!

Our tired little golfer at hole 17!

Crazy Cat

While Jessica was here, we were also cat sitting for our friends Tim & Shannon while they were on vacation. Widget behaved fairly well except for a few times that she got on the table. She is a funny cat(well, actually she is still a kitten). She climbed into the sink one day and just laid there. I guess it was a nice cool bed(I was also guessing that she was NOT trying to tell me she wanted a bath!)

Maybe she wanted water...although she had just come from eating and had water in her bowl!

Brief Intermission Entertainment

Well, Jessica went home today, I think she was glad since our weather turned a bit cold for a Florida girl! We had a great time(hence the lack of time to post!) Since I work the next couple days it will be a little while before I get the rest of our adventures blogged. For your viewing entertainment, I am post this hilarious video from the end of May. Some of you may remember a similar one from last year. We think he may turn out to be a thrill ride junkie!

Day 3

A trip to the Columbus Zoo!
We love having our membership to the zoo and plan to use it a lot this summer! We took a trip there today with Jessica and our neighbor girl, Rilie. We had a blast and were thoroughly worn out at the end of the day!

It is the year of the frog this year and this GIANT blow up frog is center stage!

Sitting on a reptile!

We ran into our friends, Ashley and Joshua with his Grandma and Aunt Sarah, so we had to get a picture of them!

The Flamingos

Once again, it is so much fun to see the babies at the zoo each year. And this year we have new flamingo babies!! One hatched on Sunday and 2 more will be hatching soon!

Still in the nest...
you have to click on this picture and see it larger(may not be the best quality) to see how adorable the little one is!

I never was drawn to the flamingos as much until last year watching the babies grow up, but now I really have this interest in watching their "personalities!"

I love how they parent, it is so amazing what God has created into each and every animal. Each animal is unique in it's makeup and nature and each animal has different things they need to learn for survival in the wild. I just love observing how God, in His infinite wisdom, gave each animal the ability to teach their young the lessons they need for survival! He truly is amazing! And it is amazing to think that if he cares that much about the animals, how much more he cares for us as we are "made in His image!"

Favorite Shots

Just some of my random favorites...

These monkeys were so funny, picking bugs out of the ground and though it is hard to see, this one has its arms throught the fence picking through a pile of leaves to find some REALLY tasty bugs!

This gorilla was sleeping in such a funny position, I just had to get a shot(sorry about the glare)!

This poor gorilla was so uncomfortable, he just could not find a good position to sleep(I can empathize!)

The peacock lives in with the ginormous tortoise...usually...but had escaped and was just trying to make it's way back as we came along. Look at how long the beautiful train of feathers is...and it was still coming out of the little wooded area!

Only at the zoo...

I took the picture, but I didn't touch it! Ya know, I think it a little ironic that most of us would hit the roof (or the floor, in my case) if our kids touched a roach, but at the zoo and only the zoo do we(you, not me) encourage them to touch vermin such as this. I didn't tell Noah not to touch it, but I sure didn't try to get him to touch it! UGH!(I even had to use zoom for the picture!!)

For Aunt Brook(see last picture)

A fun group shot!

Just a little cutie!

This one is for you Aunt Brookie!
I just had to take this picture of Noah on this box, pointing to the "Ship to Africa" stamp since his Aunt Brook lives in Africa!

I am actually very impressed by my tiger pictures after a little touch up. The tigers are so beautiful and since I have always had cats, I love to watch these amazing huge cats! Everything they do is so much like a domestic cat, just on a larger scale!

This tiger was roaming and then climbed up for this beautiful shot!

Sharpening claws, just like Ducky!

And the other tiger was napping in their shady little den.

And of course, Noah stood by the tiger and tree and wanted a picture taken. And yes, he really is only a little over 3 feet tall!
